Application of Information Technologies in Researches at the NSU Laboratory of Multidisciplinary Research on Prehistoric Art in Eurasia

The article provides an overview of the use of information technologies, including 3D-technologies, in modern archaeological researches. Described an experience and tasks of researches at the NSU Laboratory of Multidisciplinary Research on Prehistoric Art in Eurasia. Considered and compared 3D-modeling technology – photogrammetry, structured-light and laser 3D-scanning. Described techniques, used in the NSU laboratory for photogrammetry of very small archaeological finds. Represented an experience of 3D-scanning of Altai petroglyphs. Showed problems to be solved by this method of documenting of petroglyphs, including an automatic selection of drawing on the surface. Proposed solution to the problem of mapping of prehistoric drawings on the basis of a web-based resource with the database of petroglyphs, a geographic information system module and ability to store and render three-dimensional models, as the most complete and accurate primary information about rock carving.
